Mission Statement of Department
The function of the Department of Public Works is to maintain and service the city’s infrastructure systems. To service and maintain city-owned buildings and grounds, collection of garbage, refuse and recycling. Treat and deliver potable drinking water. Schedule and maintain City Dial-A-Bus system.
Jack Farr is currently in charge of the Department of Public Works, Water Department and the City Dial-A-Bus System. Duties include preparation of an annual budget,  planning, scheduling and overseeing work related to, municipal buildings and  grounds, roads, streets, sidewalks, street lighting,   traffic signals, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, vehicle maintenance, solid waste inclusive of garbage, recycling and composting. City reservoirs, watershed, dams, spillways, water treatment facility, pumping stations, water distribution system inclusive of water mains, valves, services and hydrants also come under his supervision.

DIAL-A-BUS
 The Dial-A-Bus provides pre-scheduled transportation to the general public. We operate in the city limits of Port Jervis and travel 3 miles into the Town of Deerpark.

Monday – Friday     6:00am – 5:00pm

Saturday                   9:00am – 2:00pm

Office Hours:  

Monday – Friday           9:00 am – 1:00pm

Passengers must call by 12:00 noon the previous office business day to schedule.
(If a ride is needed for Monday, they must call by 12:00 noon on Friday)

There is no bus service and the office is closed on City-observed holidays.

Cost per trip:  50 cents – Senior Citizens, Disabled
