Summer 2015 message

Posted on: June 28th, 2015

I would like to Welcome family, friends, neighbors and strangers near and far to visit our many events and activities.  During July we will hold our 2nd Annual Dinner Along the Delaware and Fireworks Show, the Fireman’s Day Parade and the Arts Walk.  During August the city will hold its first Sprint Triathlon.  Of course there is always hiking or walking in the city along our Heritage Trail and Fitness Loop.   The D&H Canal trail is really beginning to take shape on West Main Street near Grand View Avenue and work will soon begin on the turntable property.  If a short mountain climb is what you are looking for you can head up to Reservoir Avenue to park your car and walk the 1/2 mile path to the top of Point Peter.  Additionally there is Hulkberry Ridge which is a NYS DEC marked trail that follows along Black Rock Cut just off of Minisink Avenue.  If rafting, kayaking, or tubing is your game the Delaware River offers the best relaxing day.  You can park a vehicle a West End Park and Recreation Center on Ferry Street and take your raft, tube or kayak by another vehicle to the free NYS DEC launch and park just past the Mongaup on Route 97 and make a day of it.  Whatever you do, take in our beauty and shop in our stores. Our businesses are not your run of the mill big boxes, but hometown Mom & Pop stores that give that special touch.  We hope you will enjoy our city.
