Community Profile

The City of Port Jervis reflects Mainstream America not only in the mix of its nearly 10,000 residents - almost evenly divided among families, seniors and the young - but also in the time-honored tradition of self-reliance and commitment to hard work.

Set on the majestic Delaware River, Port Jervis' scenic and historic attractions makes it both a favorite tourist destination and great place for residents to live, work and play.  But its more than scenery and history which makes Port Jervis so attractive.  As the center of industry in the Tri-State Region, Port Jervis serves as the business address for a diverse group of manufacturers offering a centralized location, skilled labor force and excellent municipal services for companies to do business.  The availability of industrial land and ample supply of fresh water at lower cost compared to other municipalities in the Region also adds to a company's bottom line which is why so many manufacturers call Port Jervis their home.

With easy access to I-84 and other major highways, the strategic location of Port Jervis provides superb transportation links to manufacturing firms on the move.  The City's direct access to rail via the Norfolk-Southern network and close proximity to major airports also provides businesses with easy connections to regional and international markets which makes Port Jervis a true "global" city.
