Mr. James Wilson of New York & Greenwood Lake Railway has displayed the following engines and rail cars:
Erie E8 833
The 833 is the last remaining Erie through line passenger engine, built in
1951. The 833 passed through Port Jervis with trains such as the Erie Limited to
Chicago. This recently purchased engine was last used for the Conrail executive
Train. Engine is newly painted in original Erie colors.
Alco RS3 935
Built in 1952 by American Locomotive, 935 was used in the 1950's and 1960's
pulling passenger and freight formerly on the D&H.
EMD GP9 1268
The 1268, built in 1957 is former Northern Pacific Railway engine used in
freight and passenger service in the northwest.
"Chestnut Hill"
1949 Pullman car converted sleeper to business lounge car. Car was one of 91
"river" series sleeper cars built for New York Central by Pullman Standard.
Originally car was named St. Regis River after the river in the Adirondack
Mountains. The car was used for years on New York Central between Boston and
Cincinnati. In 1965 the car was bought by Canadian National Railway, renamed, "Riviere
Rouge", and ran on the Super Continental across Canada.
"Pride of the Delaware"
Formerly, "The Atlantic" was built by CC&F on 9/10/1924 for the Canadian
National Railway. This car was exclusively used by the CN. The car was used by
the Queen Mother in 1939 on King George VI Royal Visit 12,000 mile Tour of
Canada and US.
All of these can be viewed at the turntable located at the heart of the city adjacent to the Rite Aid Plaza.
